Breakouts most often appear where our skin has the most oil glands. That means on the face, chest, and even upper back and shoulders.
During a breakout or an acne flare, the hair follicle fills with dead skin cells, sebum (oil), and sometimes bacteria. This leads to swelling, redness, and inflammation. Eventually, the pores become clogged and push their contents to the skin’s surface.
If only the pore is clogged and there’s no inflammation, this is called a comedone. But if the comedone is closed, it’s considered a whitehead (the pimple or zit looks whitish or yellowish). If the comedone is open and has a black plug, it’s a blackhead. This coloring comes from the bacteria and oil in the pore, which turns black when exposed to air.
Pimples are different from whiteheads and blackheads. Pimples form when a plugged hair follicle contains bacteria, which leads to inflammation and red pimples.
Lastly, when skin cells, oil, and bacteria are trapped deep inside the pore, this can form painful cystic acne underneath the surface of the skin.
How To Prevent Breakouts/Acne
You have learned that breakouts happens from dead skin trapped inside the pores.
So one of the ways to prevent that from happening is to exfoliate your skin regularly.
At Emporium Beauty we have carefully selected medical grade products from OptoDerm which will help your skin to exfoliate successfully.
1. Dry Skin- if you have dry skin we advise you to use the Glycolic Toner once or twice a day.
2. Oily Skin- the Oil Control Toner Contains 2% salicylic which exfoliates deeper inside the pored, also contains glycolic and lactic acids.
3. Deep cleansing polish- suitable for all skin types. At the the begging you can use it 2-3 times a week and when your skin gets use to it, you can use it every day.
4. Bio-Enzyme Gel - a gentle, superficial peel with proteolytic enzymes, hyaluronic acid and xyloglucan.
Helps renew the desquamation process, especially to break down the desmosomes that bind dead cells together and prevent them from being removed from the skin surface.
Using a dry finger, apply the peel to the face, neck and decolletage (and other areas of the body if you like)
• Avoid the areas around the eyes and don’t apply to your lips
• You will feel an almost immediate tightening effect as the product starts to work
• Remove the peel with tepid water after 10–30 minutes (Note that most users leave this product on overnight).
