Powder Brows

Powder eyebrows or ombre eyebrows creates a soft powdery filled in finish that looks like you’ve just filled in your eyebrows in with eye shadow or pomade. Using a cosmetic tattoo machine, hundreds of tiny dots of pigment are implanted into the skin which helps build up colour and a defined shape of your desire.

Pros: Powder Filled Eyebrows / powder brows creates longer lasting results, and works with most skin types, so they are great for the customer that wants that fuller and dramatic rather than the Micro-bladed Method. To perfect this method the desired eyebrow shape is not saturated with 100% pigment which allows a soft defined look without looking too blocky!

Ombre eyebrows or Powder Eyebrows are perfect for someone who:

  • draw their eyebrows regularly & want to save time in morning

  • wants a more dramatic look to enhance their eyebrow shape

  • oily or combination skin

What to expect when you book your powder brow appointment?

The first appointment will be your consultation with me, where we will discuss your eyebrow goals and I will take your medical history. In the same time allergy test will be performed for the numbing cream and pigment. After 48 hours if there is no side effects from numbing cream and pigment, then we will proceed with your next appointment.

At the second appointment we will spend time drawing and discussing style, shape and colour prior to commencing powder brow application.

I pay particular attention to the wellbeing and satisfaction of every client. Your colour is applied only after a thorough consultation.

I will always offer my professional opinion when it comes to your shape and colour, but ultimately it is most important that you are happy with your look.

The most natural look is the most popular preference, but it really is a case of what is right for you, your appearance and lifestyle and also the look you are used to.

For this appointment will take 2 hours and 30 minutes, to 3 hours to be completed, depending on your current eyebrow shape. If the eyebrows are quite asymmetrical, time is required to achieve the most possible symmetrical eyebrows.

Third appointment is touch up, 4-6 weeks after your second appointment.

This is because after the second appointment, the colour needs a settling time in the skin.

In most cases I treat conservatively during the second visit, to be able to make any minor adjustments to colour and shape at your third visit, allowing you to become accustomed to the colour and shape. Most people feel, like me, that it is always more preferable to add more at a later date than over compensate initially.

The price for powder brows is R 2 900 including the touch up treatment after 4-6 weeks.

How long do powder brow last?

Depending on your skin type, lifestyle and how you treat your brows, they can last from one to three years. With the regular touch ups you can prolong the effect and pristine look of the brows.

Unlike traditional tattooed brows, this treatment is not permanent because the pigment is not inserted so deep into the skin. The treatment is semi-permanent, which means that the colour will fade after some time. However, it is called permanent makeup because it can not be washed off.

What does the healing process look like?

Since the procedure involves inserting tiny dots of pigment gradually into the skin, making sure there are no harsh edges but a soft and smooth shading effect, your brows will be a bit swollen and too dark immediately after the treatment.

The healing process takes 4-6 weeks, during which you need to be extra careful about your brows.

Here is what you can expect during the healing period:

Day 1 and 2

Your brows are too dark and they look like a block of pigment. Also, redness is present and they might be swollen. You might not be satisfied, but be prepared for this.

Day 3

The first thing you will notice is scabbing. After the powder brows treatment, scabs fall off in one big or a few big pieces.

Day 4 – 10

This period is the most difficult to overcome, Scabs keep falling off, leaving your brows in patches. Your brows are itchy but under no circumstances should you scratch or touch them. Carry on with the aftercare routine and be patent.

Day 10 – 14

Your brows look too light and you must think that the whole process has been unsuccessful. Scabs are not that common anymore. The healing period is almost over.

Day 14 – 21

Your brows are coming back! They are taking their final shape and look much better. However, they might still look a little bit patchy and uneven.

Day 21 – 30

Your brows are completely healed. Now it’s time to book a touch-up appointment to correct any possible patches and flaws.

What can affect the powder brows healing?

There are various factors that affect the speed and pace of the healing process:

  • Skin type – certain skin type heals faster and the pigment sets in perfectly

  • Age

  • Diet

  • Smoking – slows down the healing process

  • Physical activity – if you sweat a lot, it will negatively affect the healing process

  • Exposure to the sunlight – avoid direct exposure to the sun

What does the aftercare entail?

Powder brows aftercare can determine the success of the treatment. You must religiously follow the instructions given by us. Here are the dos and donts of the aftercare:

DO:

-Make sure you clean your powder brows regularly. Use cotton pads and sterile water and dry the area afterward.

-Apply a thin layer of ointment that we recommend. It will make scabs fall off faster. Also, it is good to apply it before showering, to keep the area protected.

Do NOT:

-Do not use your healing ointment after your brows are healed.

-Don’t go swimming.

-Don’t sleep on your face.

-Don’t have long and hot showers.

-Don’t expose them to the sun.

-Don’t work out or sweat a lot.

-Don’t touch or peel off the scabs.

-Don’t wash your brows extensively. Use a cotton pad to wipe the area.

-Don’t wear makeup

How long after the powder brow treatment can I start wearing makeup?

During the healing period, the area is sensitive and prone to infections. Therefore, avoid applying any makeup, especially close to the treated area, because some of it might reach the area and cause infections. You can continue your normal daily routine after the healing period is over.

Do I Need Touch Ups and How Often?

Powder brow treatment consists of three visits, consultation, first treatment and first touch up. So it can be said that the first touch up is mandatory. The first touch up should be done after the healing period is over, which is 4-6 weeks after the treatment. Its purpose is to correct all the imperfections. For example, if your skin didn’t take the pigment in some spots, there is the touch up to fix it.

Other touch-ups are optional. If you want your powder brows to last longer, frequent touch-ups are required. The frequency depends on how quickly the colour fades. You should book an appointment as soon as you notice the colour is disappearing. If you let it fade too much, you might need to complete the entire treatment.

Conclusion

It is very important to follow all the tips given in order to get great results. After that, you can enjoy in your beautiful, natural-looking, powdered brows.
